Assessment Time

INTEREDU™ assessment is conducted over three periods: pre-assessment, formative assessment and summative assessment. However, the tools and means used in each vary on the basis of the offered training course and the assessment objective. The figure below illustrates the types of assessments used in INTEREDU™. used in INTEREDU™ .

Assessment Time
Pre-assessment

Pre-assessment is carried out at the start of all INTEREDU™ programs. Trainees are actively engaged as all pre-assessment activities in the courses are offered in the form of self-evaluation. This tool is effective in activating trainees› prior knowledge to the level of cognitive consciousness. The outcomes are evident to trainees who can observe their learning and the change on personal skills and knowledge while training. The peer trainees can offer observations and support; the trainer provides support and facilitates the training. Pre-assessment is followed by an introduction to the main topics, big ideas, essential questions and expected outcomes of a course. Trainees are introduced to the knowledge and skills they will gain. Hence, they visualize a clear prospective and can remember the prior knowledge on the topic of training.

Pre-assessment utilizes a number of tools in the term of training courses, including cognitive and self-reflective self-assessment, vocabulary tool, KWL-Q chart, checklist of the prior knowledge and skills, and assessment of prior knowledge. All courses apply the vocabulary tool and KWL-Q chart since the vocabulary are essential target knowledge in INTEREDU™ .

Formative Assessment

This assessment measures the final knowledge, skills and performance reached by a trainee. It measures the extent to which the course goals were achieved. It is offered in a number of forms including final performance tasks (which are developed and evaluated based on the set rubrics), self-reflection tools (such as KWL-Q chart), exit task (reflective writing), vocabulary tool, and content MCQ quiz. The learning evidence and assessment data collected throughout a course are used to identify the effectiveness of the course and needs for development based on the level of mastery the trainees display in performing the required tasks.

Summative Assessment

This assessment measures the final knowledge, skills and performance reached by a trainee. It measures the extent to which the course goals were achieved. It is offered in a number of forms including final performance tasks (which are developed and evaluated based on the set rubrics), self-reflection tools (such as KWL-Q chart), exit task (reflective writing), vocabulary tool, and content MCQ quiz. The learning evidence and assessment data collected throughout a course are used to identify the effectiveness of the course and needs for development based on the level of mastery the trainees display in performing the required tasks.
